13th Annual Golf Day, 8 October 2010

The 13th South African Charity Golf Day will take place at the stunning Foxhills Club and Resort in Ottershaw, Surrey on 8th October 2010. We will have in excess of 320 golfers teeing off for a day of fun focused on raising funds for five very deserving South African charities. In the past 12 years we were able to raise over £300,000 and this year we intend to raise more than ever before! Our patron, Mr FW de Klerk, the former State President of South Africa and the joint winner with Nelson Mandela of the Nobel Peace Prize, as always, will be playing in the main event.

We aim to provide a well organised golf tournament with off-the-course activities to ensure guests can spend an entire day with us. The day will end with a prestigious Gala Dinner for approximately 500 diners where many of the golfers' spouses, partners and friends can join them. None of this would be possible without your, our sponsors and volunteers support.

We operate strictly within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Charities Commission and there is full accountability for each penny raised and distributed.

The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund

The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund was founded by Nelson Mandela soon after South Africa's truly democratic election in 1994. It was his personal response to the misery and hopelessness that poverty had inflicted on South Africa's children, the most innocent part of any society.

The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund supports organisations implementing programmes and projects that empower children and youth from impoverished backgrounds to improve the quality of their lives. The Fund places emphasis on creative, innovative and participatory initiatives that have the potential to change the ways in which society responds to children and youth.

Mr Mandela’s integrity and love for children can be seen throughout NMCF and its commitment to the welfare of society’s most vulnerable citizens, its children. The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund strives to change the way in which society treats its children and youth.

The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund programmes of work include: disability, wellbeing of the child, skills development, leadership & excellence, and HIV/AIDS.

The FW de Klerk Foundation

The FW de Klerk Foundation was established in 2000 and aims to promote peace in multicommunity states. Due to the relevance of its role and the achievements of former President FW de Klerk, the Foundation is well positioned to play a catalytic role in South Africa, Africa and the world in working for harmonious relations between ethnic, cultural, linguistic and religious communities in multi-community societies.

Between 1990 and 1996 all South Africa’s significant parties, representing majorities from all its communities, succeeded in bridging centuries of division, discrimination and bitterness, and established a foundation for future unity, justice, prosperity and democracy. The Foundation established a Centre for Constitutional Rights which promotes the values, rights and principles in the Constitution, monitors development, and informs and assists people and organisations in claiming their rights.
